A Message was brought from the House of Commons with a Bill C-32, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 28, 2000, to which they desire the concurrence of the Senate.The Bill was read the first time.
The Honourable Senator Hays moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Mercier, that the Bill be placed on the Orders of the Day for a second reading two days hence.

Resuming debate on the Motion of the Honourable Senator Carstairs, seconded by the Honourable Senator Mercier, for the adoption of the Seventh Report of the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology entitled: "Quality End-of-Life Care: The Right of Every Canadian", tabled in the Senate on June 6, 2000.After debate, In amendment, the Honourable Senator Corbin moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Ferretti Barth, that the motion be amended by adding the following words:
"; andThat the Senate request the Government to provide a comprehensive response to the unanimous recommendations contained in this Report within six months of the adoption of this motion."
After debate, The Honourable Senator Hays for the Honourable Senator Pépin moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Mercier, that further debate on the motion in amendment be adjourned until the next sitting.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted. Consideration of the Tenth Report of the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration (budgets of certain Committees), presented in the Senate on June 6, 2000.
The Honourable Senator Rompkey, P.C., moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Chalifoux, that the Report be adopted.
